It had some, umm, "fuzzy green stuff" all over the components inside. I tried to clean it, and I think all I succeeded in doing was completely killing it. Interior lights didn't even work after that. So, yeah, it had something going on with it, but I don't know what.
Sure did. Plugged it in, and when I hooked the battery cables back up, everything seemed to work.
Plug and play. That's good.

Might be water intrusion. Check your windshield for any leaks.
Thanks. I'm pretty dependent on 4WD when I head off-road. And I worry about the reliability of the electrically switched 4WD system. I've got manual Warn Hubs, but I'm still reliant on the factory 4WD actuation of the transfer case. Would be nice to have a carry-along spare, but not at those new item prices. Maybe a salvage yard?
Might have to research this some more to determine how year and vehicle specific these GEMs are.
