Hello all, I've been a member on here with another account but I can't seem to figure out my password so I made a new name. On to the question. I have a 2002 2x4 superduty that has 265/75/16 tires on it. Theres a guy locally selling a set of brand new nitto terra grappler's that are 285/75/16. Question is will the width of the nittos be safe on a stock rim? I'm posting a pic to show you guys which rim I have as I'm clueless on how wide it is to see if those nittos fit or not. Thank you very much for your time!
They are both wider and taller, so your speedometer will be off. They should fit decently enough, but it may handle a bit differently when towing or loaded.
20mm is approximately 3/4", so the tires would be about 3/4" wider and 1.25" taller.

Awesome, thanks for you response! That helped out a lot. By any chance do you know the width of the wheels that are shown in the pic? I've been searching but i keep seeing 7inches or 8inches. Don't know which one is the true size.
Ed...your wheels are 16 x 7", unless they're a remarkable aftermarket copy. There's a ton of guys on FTE that have gone to the 285, but personally, I wouldn't. A 265 is about the max width that most tire shops recommend for a 7" wide wheel. A 285 will go on the rim with no problem, but you'd probably have to experiment with the air pressure (probably a good bit lower than the factory spec) to get an acceptable wear pattern.
