I have an 04 ex, get egr low flow DTC. Cleaned egr, not very dirty. Used snap on ethos scan tool not able to get ebp reading, ebp sensor is clean and tube is clear. I did notice that the IAT is at ambient temp but IAT2 is 24* warmer, this stays the same cold soak and warm, is this a problem? CCV has o-ring in place. Not sure on flash that it has. Any other ideas?
iat2 is hotter then iat1 even after sitting 12 hours? something is not right there. iat1 is part of the maf, the maf heater wire should have iat1 a few degrees over iat2 at koeo coldsoak.
also check to make sure airflow arrow on maf is facing correct way.
remove iat2 and clean it.
then you also have ohm checks for the sensors you can do.
On a cold soak your temp should almost the same. If you have 24* difference I would look into that first. Also being an 04 your programing may be useing an inferred EBP reading.
Yeah, parked for 20 hours or so. IAT2 was 20-24 warmer than ambient, IAT was ambient. Cleaned iat2 and checked, still same. Maf pointed correct way and free of oil and debris. What are the sensor ohm tests? Not a tech, don't have specs. Thanks for the info.

if u have only 1 alternator, (from wat i read) it's not advisable to idle tat long. the only diesels tat enjoy idling are those wif a 2nd heavy-duty alternator. jus my 2 cents worth. maybe tats putting extra load or jus screwing wif ur readings.
btw, i forgot to add, did u check ur egr while plugged in? wat i mean is, hook ur egr up and keep it out of its housing, and run the engine and have someone floor the accelerator. the valve on the egr should be moving. if not, it may be a faulty one, and then its time for a new one.

or maybe i could be barking up the wrong tree.
not idling at all????? I know better than idling a diesel engine, cylinder temps and pressures aren't anywhere near what they need to be.

i read somewhere off of ford's website tat they do not recommend idling more than 15 mins if ur running all stock on the powerstroke 6.0 and only on 1 alternator.
i guess tats why folks install a 2nd alternator under the 6.0 engine. there are other uses for a 2nd alternator, but mostly for idling.
@ 01f-250/04ex, also after u check ur egr valve to ensure it is working, pls check ur ficm voltage. there is a tech guide on wat exactly to look out for.
if ur temps are STILL running weird, the next thing i would look into is ur egr cooler or oil cooler or both. one might be busted or both busted or about to fail.
take it one step at a time and u'll be jus fine. it sounds frustrating. i've been there. i know how it is.
Oil and coolant temps are good, ficm good, ran both koeo and koeo self test from scan tool came up good. Soot on egr and IAT2 was dry.
sounds good so far. did u do the test on ur egr valve? the one where u leave it plugged in but out of the housing and have someone step on the gas pedal? tats to see if the valve opens and closes. if it does, then it works. if not, then u noe u gotta change the egr valve.
u might wan to have it checked if it has been flashed and updated lately. like lenzhotrod said, the flash might correct certain procedures. i needed to have mine flashed in 3 areas when i brought mine in.
Haven't had a chance to pull egr and test yet, is that with the engine running? With the IAT2 not being near ambient temp is that a concern? Might get a chance to do more tests tomorrow if not it will be next weekend. Mom used to work at Ford dealer so might be able to get flashed for free, she is checking on that for me.
Well since I posted the cel hasn't came on so I guess cleaning IAT2 was enough for fix. We will see I guess. Thanks for the input I got from everyone.
no prob. glad it solved it for right now. i'm guessing u pulled the negative connectors for ur batteries. hence, wat it does is jus resetting it. drive it for a bit. if it comes back on again, then u noe u missed somethin. by tat time, jus chime in and i'm sure the guys will help u out.
