IF the frame is rotted, i woul definitely check the tank hangers. If nothing else, get new ones at Auto Zone and put backup plates on each side of the frame holes to bolt thru..
How does the dealer propose to close the recall ? FORD has your name and sn on file, If it is not closed, you will continue to get notices.

I replaced the Straps a year ago and the tank a month ago. The strap pulled through the crossmember and now the tank is hanging. Contacted Ford numerous times. I need everyone that has the same issue to call the Nation Highway Traffic Safty Asso. Ford Denied my truck the recall because the strap would not attach. Its the triangle Hole that the strap slides into.

Of course they did you have no way of attaching the tank strap because your frame is rusted through, what do you expect them to do? Give you two new straps that don't do anything?

If you have a frame that has rusted through to the point where the fuel tank straps wont stay in then there is prob strength issues with the frame in other places. Sounds like its time for a new truck.

Ill take donations for my new truck fund...lol
Got an Email from Ford Customer Service stating " it is not recommended to drive the vehicle while it is unsafe." But have no available fix. Just fixed it with a 1" Grade 8 washer. Cost $1.81+tax.
Trust me if i could afford a New truck id be in it...lol

So you're driving a vehicle with a rusted through frame and rusty fuel tank straps?

yeah isn't it sad. Also this truck has only been in Michigan winteres 3 times. Been in Florida the rest.

Ok the straps are only a year old. And the tank is a Month old. The engine is roughly 4 years old with maybe 70,000 miles. The A/C compressor is new. The truck has 270,000 something miles on it.

Get that piece of crap off the road if it is rusted through. That isn't safe to drive.

Easy for you to say while you drive your $50,000 truck. Im 22 yrs old and work to pay the bills while my fiance goes to school. My fathers an Engineer and can't buy a New car. WELCOME TO MICHIGAN!!!!!
Your quick to critisize but my grandfather bought the truck new in 97. He gave it to me just before he died. So don't call my stuff a piece of crap.

I am sorry, I should have chosen my words better. I am 24 years old and pay my bills while going to school and working full time so I know where you are coming from.

That being said, have you considered repairing the frame by either splicing on a used section or using reinforcing plates? It sounds like the pickup has sentimental value and as such would be worth the effort to make it right.

Its just the cross member has a hole where the tank strap goes into and hooks. The strap pulled through the hole and ford would only replace the straps which never got done because the dealership said there is nothing they can do because the hole is rusted out. So My father and I just took a Grade 8 washer and cut a slit in it. and hooked the strap up with it. It will hold. But the recall was denied on my truck.

My 2000 f150 4x4 has that brush gaurd covering the bottom of the tank and the bolts are pretty rusted holding that on I wonder if the dealer just uses an impact to remove these and if they break off, is it my problem or will they fix that?

I don't think your truck is recalled. There is alot of complaints on NHTSA about tanks being loose but not recalled because your gaurds keep it off the ground
