roller and none roller motors

roller and none roller motors
How can I tell the difference in a 302 roller motor and a 302 none roller motor by just looking at it.

You really cant tell by just looking at the motor , the 94 up are rollers , they also have the 351 firing order , some 92-93 had a smaller roller cam but with the standard 302 order , all HO motors are rollers....Lew

There is no way to know for certain without having a look inside for the dogbones around the roller lifters, and you don't need to remove much more than the valve cover to see if these are present or not.

If you got a V8 your truck should have a roller motor, by '94 everything was.

In a roller motor the distributor has a steel gear, flat tappet has a cast iron gear.
