I havent made any progress on this idea really. To be honest i havent really spent much time researching it even. I just picked up another 65' Galaxie in january, this ones a two door and i have wanted one for a long time so that has been taking a lot of my time. I gotta tear it all the way down to the frame and re do everything. Plus i still havent gotten my 445 stroker short block from Barry so i should probably wait till i get the engine and get it running before i start trying to think about putting fuel injection on it. That is a beautiful set up you have there Lonnie, i remember when you posted pictures of it in the "What are you working on" thread awhile back. Your set up is actually what got me thinking about fuel injection. If you still have it sitting around in August when i get back from fishing in alaska i would love to take it off your hands Unfortunately I wont really have any disposable income until then and I have a strong feeling it wont last that long
Well I just sold the intake and heads. This project got shelved due to TOO many projects at once time. I did finish the first 390 with a RPM intake and a single 4bbl throttle body. I used an Accel gen 7 with Ford EDIS ignition and went distributorless. The engine was an Animal down low and peaked about 5500 RPM as i had a small 260 duration cam with only .480 lift
But the Multiport Dual plane intake was Awsome !!
I need to thin out my projects right now Too many Sticks in the fire
if you wish to Go EDIS let me know
I still have one Distributor left i cut down and modified to just turn the oil pump and a crank hub turned down to fit the EDIS reluctor wheel for a FE
I will give it to you if you(free) really decide to go distributorless
I even have the reluctor wheel to go with it
As ar as I know I might be the only person who has done this Multiport Dual plane EFI with a distributorless ignition..atleast in my area
The timing is very stable and the Dual plane intake works Extrremely well as opposed to a single plane for Street engine spending most of its time below 5500 RPMs
all i heard was it wont work...ALL horse pucky.....lol
it worked with EFI just as well as it works with a Carb setup
I really think the 2x4 RPM with a bigger cam would have had a Very broad power band and turned alot of RPMS as well
Now i can finish my 52 F1 twin turbo engine
If you need help let me know..but i am sure Barry is twice as good as I am with this stuff

Out of curiosity, did you ever run either one on the dyno? I just talked to Barry today and he finally got my 445 short block finished. I wont have any money to throw at it till August though, and the amount all depends on how the fishing season goes. I havent decided which way to go with it yet but i will definately be thinking about it. I love free stuff but i would hate to take good parts if i havent even decided to do it yet, but i appreciate the offer. If I decided to go that route i will most definately be picking your brain. I am already thinking about upgrading to a hydraulic roller setup and maybe down the road a blower. But if i did all that i would probably need to upgrade the rods. But then again, if im going to spend all that money to build a little more power i might as well go to a 460 aftermarket block and stroke it with Kasse heads and a blower. Or.......
And so my addiction grows
Never ran it on a dyno. The one i finished was in a 67 fairlane. it did have remarkable low end power compared to Street Master (1200-3000)
First trip to kernville from home it got 21 mpg with a FMX and 3:50 gears
The 390 with multiport dual plane has a much smother power band and better economey then the street master intake i did prior.
Not sure the the tires were in favor of it...LOL
For your set-up a single plane might be better as your building a much racier engine..... With a large stall convertor...although if your not going to buzz it over 6500 i would think the RPM 2x4 like i just sold would work better than a single plane
Since your building a stroker engine the dual plane would only add to your torque curve...Either way you will enjoy the Multiport setup if you do decide to go fuel injected. I Love the EDIS setup due to its reliability...
EDIS Just does not Break period and the timing is so stable.
Funny everyone is soo afraid of EFI and there are soo many Wives tales about it..... BUT once you do convert to EFI you never go back to carbs again
Anyway sounds like your building a real Hotrod and it should be very enjoyable no matter what route you take

Well, since mine would be a driver primeraly, with the ability to hit the 1/4 mile every other weekend to have some fun and maybe kick some a**, i would probably go with the 2x4 with a couple chevy 454 throttle bodies (even though i hate and despise the thought of putting chevy parts on my ford). I must say i have always been in that boat of nay sayers of EFI since i hate the idea of computers on cars. I gotta say, this looks like rocket science to me ( EDIS Ignition Control ) and is a little intimidation when you start talking sensors and wave length and resistance and all that kinda stuff. Since you have done this before, what would i be looking total cost wise to put one of these systems together; hopefully finding a good deal on the 2x4 intake and doing all the work and fabrication myself? Are most of the parts stuff you can find in a junk yard?
The throttle bodies could be sourced from a Junk yard...350 TBI units would work
EDIS could be sourced from a junk yard as well as some 24lb injectors could. Most sensors could be found at the junk yard as well...all really cheap....the computer ..I would use a mega squirt. Mega squirt will do everything needed and then some...if your bucks up then Accel...Fast XFI
If you get really serious and hit the lotto then use Electromotive TEC 3r
I am sure this thread has become boring for most as EFI is a Unwanted VOODOO...lol
as they drive home from work in their fuel injected truck that has never given them one oz of trouble
EFI is very simple Very reliable and Very tunable EFI makes the engine much cleaner emission wise better performers and really helps the fuel mileage....the torque gained in a heavy truck is something to behold

I agree.
I love megasquirt. It works awesome. I have it on 3 vehicles and have installed and tuned it on 5-7 others.
I will be doing dual gm tbi throttle bodies on my current dual quad intake this year. Or I'll clean up my tripower intake and do that, because ms can control the tbi units just like back in the day.
