Techs and prev experience needed

I made a thread the other day about my shifter not wanting to come out of park. I switched out sensors with my dads 7.3 (mine is 06 6.0) didn't work, but mine still did on his...

So now the parts guy at the dealership said it was the solenoid up by the steering wheel. I found it, but the bolts are tucked up where i can't see them. My question to either the techs or whomever has done this before, is what's the trick? I don't want to start tearing things off i don't need to, so if anyone has some helpful hints or write-ups, i would greatly appreciate it!

I remember the thread but don't remember if you scanned the truck for codes of any type.

I'm not familiar with the particular solenoid you're referencing but here's a bump to the top for a tech.

I didn't have any codes... Trying to get it out of park became a pain pretty much over the weekend. Ill try and get a pic of the location, but basically i took the plastic shroud off behind the steering wheel to expose all the wiring and there is a solenoid that i assume allows the shifter to come out of park?? There is a 3 prong harness that plugs into it which i would assume comes from the brake switch on the pedal. I had to leave for work when i posted this earlier. I didn't get much time to try and mess with it, so i was hoping to get some helpful hints before i got home lol.
