refresh me extra quart oil filter number
Like I said ---- totally a computer dummy!! I need to explain further,,,,
the engine I am talking about is in a 1968 Clark airport tow tractor. It is a 300/6, 190hp, fmx tranny, with a 17.33-1 rear ratio. (17mph top speed). It has a 50,000 lb. tow rating. (YES 50,000lb.) I do think the block has been replaced with a 1981 model (casting #E1T6-6015-AA). I am not a Ford man,,, until now!!! HaHa. The tractor has been subject to 40 years of "maintenance men", that afro-engineered all kinds of things!!!! The dipstick is totally incorrect. It has file marks on it for the oil level, so I really don't know what the correct amount of oil is. Like I said before, It is a center sump/pick-up. That is about all I know.......
Once again, THANX for the Info. Anyone else with info would be great!!!! (including you too, GEM44)
sincerely,
New Ford Guy
Where can I get a "309", or whatever, sticker like you have in your Bio.??? That is really cool!!!! One like yours would look great on my stock air filter!! (different cid, of course) Thanx again for your info. You Ford guys may not be so bad after-all. HA Ha Ha...........................
P.S. Did you chop the top yourself???? Thats a BIG job!!!
The best thing I did was use a remote mount and have the filter in a verticle position. On several different brands of filters, on long "on or off ramps" and at start up the engine would clatter a bit, probably because the drain valves in the filters were failing. Once in the upright position, that never happened again.
BTW, I got the remote mount for two filters and I just get the 5" long ones since they are available everywhere and two are cheaper than the one longer filter anyway.

Oil after about 3000 mi Mobile1 5w30 with the cheapy Purolator filters

I only got the duel kit because it was cheap on eBay for about 20 bucks. Came with everything, but I had to use a piece of 1/4 x 1/4 alum angle to mount it to the frame for spacing. Easy to change filters with no mess and stops the knocking issue I sometimes had ,on startup or cornering with the oem position.
Very happy with how well the oil is filtered. Cheaper at oil changes than the long filter.

Sorry about the long response time! I have not been here much lately. The truck is a "pipe dream" which at the current pace of my life will never happen! I need to get my roadster done which I have not touched since May. My avatar pic is something I edited from a pic I found on the web. I copied it to paint and tweaked it. I saved it and uploaded it here.
HTH
