Come on truck....please start....
The truck starts fine every morning. Once I drive 15-20 miles (get the motor warm), and turn the engine off, the truck will immediately restart. However, if I wait 20 minutes or so to start the truck, it becomes a chore! It will take 5-10 attempts to fire the engine (if I can get it started), straining the battery. I even tried starting fluid, so I’m not sure it’s starving for fuel; it seems like vapor lock??
I don’t know if this is a coincidence, but this started happening at the same time I installed a new tank. I checked all lines, fuel filters, etc. I even drove with the tank cap off to make sure it is ventilated. Plus, once started, the truck runs fine. My previous experiences with fuel-line vapor lock usually resulted with sputtering or stalling while driving. Any ideas? I’m planning to add a Performer and 650 4brl, guessing the problem is carb related, but I’d like to diagnosis the problem before I start spending $$. Motor is a 71 FE360 in F250 4X.
Thanks
If there is no gas, it may be boiling the fuel out of the bowl on hot-soak, so you have to wait for the pump to get fuel into the bowl before the truck will start.
