been throwing around the idea of building a stroker but all the rotating kits call for a 28 oz imbalance... if memory serves me 81 and later 302's were all 50 oz imbalance. my factory balancer has a crank trigger wheel on it.... do they have a 28 oz balancer with that crank trigger?? or maybe just use a 351 balancer for the same year??
any info greatly appreciated..
The difficulty when we built our 347 (a few years back) was that, at the time, there was NO cost effective solution to having a stock trigger, 28 oz. damper and pulley together.
Once we had pistons that worked with our Rousch heads and the aluminum flywheel we sent it all off to be zero balanced at he crank shop.
Ended up using an MSD ignition trigger and zerobalance Fluidamper with March underdrive pulleys.
But this is in a Cobra kitcar, not a pickup...
There was a lot of talk on the Exploder forums about a guy that could do it.
It made more "cents" for us to rebalance the crank and upgrade the ignition than pay $799 for a custom balancer with the stock trigger.
