ignition switch help needed ASAP

i need to know how to get the pos off because i am absolutely sick of not being able to work on my truck, when i turn the key and nothing happens. I know it's the switch, and I need to know as soon as possible how to get the junk that's in there now out and replace it. It's the bigger grey section behind the dash right after the piece where the key goes into.

Put the key in the ignition,on the face of it there is a small hole. I take a large paper clip and straighten it out,the push the end of the clip in the hole at the same time turn the key to the left a little more and you can feel it release . Pull the tumbler out with the key still in it ,then unscrew the lock ring on front, that releases the complete unit. If you intend to reuse the key and tumbler ,don't turn it,just lay it back out of the way. When you get the new switch in ,push the key with the tumbler in and turn it to the right, clock wise. I think i got it correct to you.

I'll just add that if you need to get the whole thing out, you have to unscrew the chrome ring that is around where the key goes. It should have a slot in it, just put a flat head screw driver on it and tap the screwdriver in the direction to loosen (unscrew) the ring. Then the whole thing comes out from behind dash.

EDIT: Sorry I just skipped right over the part where jim already said to unscrew the lock ring.
