Random Alarm Going Off even when driving
Okay, I am about ready to shoot myself....On daughter;s 02 Escape the factory keyless entry/alarm has been going off at random times (lights blinking, horn honking). When it first began, a quick click with the key fob would reset it. Then after a few months, a person must go to the vehicle, turn on the engine, and then turn off the engine to reset it.
Now it is randomly going when driving down the highway....one minute having a normal conversation with a passenger at 70 mph and the next minute nearly having an accident when the alarm starts going off and the horn starts blaring along with the headlights flashing.
Key fobs did not work to turn it off. Had to find a safe place to pull over, shut the vehicle down and then restarted the vehicle all was fine. This behavior is happening more and more frequently.
Is there a fix I have not found or is it looking like I need to replace the body control module behind the dash? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
