I need to know other than the spark plug and cam phaser issues have there been any problems with power?
I ask this because I am having to bring a law suit against a mechanic. He says it is just the engine and he did nothing wrong in the rebuild of it.
OK, 43 views. Please, I need to know if there is anything other than the two very well known issues of the spark plugs and the variable speed timing cam phasers. Has there been any chronic and wide spread problems with this engine not delivering power to the drive train????
I have to wait for a long time before I pull out into traffic so I will not get into a wreck. It runs fine when it is cold but, when warm I have to wait till a dang near empty street to pull out. This truck has been parked in my side yard for a while now and I really would like some responses.
Have any of you even heard of this engine being a "lemon"? Please explain. I am being freaking stuck with over 4k of repair bill for an engine that was supposed to have been rebuilt (and I do think it was) and now the guy thinks that I have to eat this cost because he has done "Everything that can be done."
Please, please somebody speak up. I need your help and you have no idea the pride I am swallowing to ask for this help.
If this engine has no other systemic problems other than the two noted in the OP I would certainly be in your debt!
Well by reading you first thread it would seem the truck was running really good when you got it back so I think you can feel somewhat confident its not a motor issue. With that being said have you had the codes read with a good scanner ? Did they check fuel pressure for a weak pump ? Fuel filter? Plugged cat ? Just throwing some stuff out there to check but I would start with codes. As far as nagging issues of a 5.4 I dont really think there are any other than the plugs being finicky at times. Post back and let us know what you have done to date and also what you find out.
