I have a 2000 Rnager 4x4 and am looking for a front skid plate, but can not find one. I thought about fabricating my own but would rather buy one. Can anyone give me some info?
I have a '99, and I want to put a Ford skid plate on mine (they were standard equipment in '00 if you had the off-road package). I have the Ford part # for that skid plate you need...let me go get it after lunch and I'll post it here later.
Like I said, 2000 and newer Rangers with the off-road package had the front skid plate stardard equipment.
If you need to buy one from Ford, the part number is YL5Z-5B018-AA. The dealer here is asking around $180.00 for it. It is stainless steel. The new ones on the FX4 trucks are painted black to match better....just something to keep in mind.
As far as I know this skid plate will only fit 98-03 Rangers. On 98-99 models a person would have to drill two small holes in the frame directly below the front diff. to mount the skid plate properly...but it will work. 00-03 models came with them from the factory, so all the holes are already there to mount the skid plate to (if you don't already have one).
