Wife was going to town. She was half way there. Pressed on the fuel and had no power, engine idled. She could baby it to get back but if she pressed on the fuel it would just idle. After shutoff of engine it has ran fine (so far) any ideas. We are going in to get the computer checked.
That is the same thing mine is doing. However last night I shut key off I could not get it to restart. had to be pulled home by neighbor once I got home. Tried it again truck fiired right up and ran fine. Scary though I was leaving a traffic light when the "dead pedal " happend.
several months ago, I was driving on a four lane with the cruise control on. Speed limit went from 55 to 65mph and I pressed the accel button on the steering wheel. Truck speed up and I glanced down at the speedo and it still said 55. I held the button until I was sure I was going 75 and the speedo never moved. Couple miles down the road I came to a stop and the speedo said 16mph! drove a little more and it was still out of sync. Pulled over, shut down, re-started and everything was ok.
I know thats different than your issue but I wanted to say it never happened again.
Could it be the user? Haha, just kidding. I've seen this issue before. It kinda runs like if you were to have the choke on on a 4wheeler. I dont remember the fix, but almost pos that there was a CEL stored. Id have that checked even if there is not an issue now. Just so if it does happen again and the same code comes back youll know where to start.
I had an 04 stick shift that would drop the throttle every time u shifted the gears and then come back in. It would quickly flash cel and then cel go off and throttle back. It had rubbed a wire on the back of the valve cover area.
hooked up scanner to the truck tonight and no codes were stored??? I did talk to a ford diesel mechanic that worked for Sanderson ford in phx now he works for maricopa county on the counties fleet. he said he is familiar with the problem and thinks it is the wire loom chaffing issue. Great guy he is willing to drive across town on sunday to take a look at it for me.hope we can figure it out and as soon as we do i will be sure to post our findings,
Sorry for the delay on update.. been running soybeans.
