No words of wisdom, but I don't understand how so many members of this forum have the issues they have with the trucks. Apparently it is normal to burn oil in a diesel, yet mine doesn't. It is normal to have the oil turn black and nasty with a diesel, but mine remains clear and in the case of Rotella T5, it stayed brown the entire cycle of 6K miles. My truck starts easily and quickly every time. My transmission has 216K miles on it and it still shifts smoothly every time. My coolant is clean with no buildup in the bottle. I recently changed my fuel filter after it was in for over a year and it was barely brownish. No boost leaks, exhaust leaks or the like. Turbo fins look brand new. Truck does not smoke at all. I just don't modify anything and drive normally.
Enjoy it while you can. My truck ran flawless for the first 238k miles and then little things starting going wrong here and there. Facts are that all machines need maintenance from time to time. Climate and working conditions make a big difference on how much maintenance is required.
Any sensible person knows that all mods have risks and we are all free to make any changes that we feel bring value to our trucks. This is our right as Americans and why we fight to keep our freedom.
Sometimes people post their problems and hope to receive some help, which is why we are all here. This forum would be worthless if we all replied "I don't know why your truck broke, mine is working fine..."

I'll just bet jc8825 is done replying to my query after we all took turns "correcting" him/her... but that was very well said Shake-N-Bake.
Woodnthings, Yes, I clicked it the first time (after I typed my thanks). I support boaters on a boating forum and I completely understand that many people don't know how to recognize a useful link vs. an annoying pop-up ad. It is good of you to follow up like that... thank you again.
nlemerise, Ah... now I get it. That recall for gas tank straps is in the same family as this problem. The D.O.T. handles things differently around here: They spray the road with a non-corrosive (and non-toxic) de-icer before freezing rain or snow when it's in the forecast, then they use sand after the fact. We have more problems with slimy goop on our windshields and sandblasted lexan headlights. I guess it's more incentive to not tailgate in the winter... as if the threat of crashing wasn't reason enough. I applaud the DOT for this approach because it's better on the roads and the state saves a lot of money in road repairs. I will still look into the rusty oil pan in my region as a precaution.
