Torque Spec's For PS pump
Torque Spec's For PS pump
Getting ready to replace my PS pump tomorrow and I'm wondering if anyone knows the torque spec's for the 3 ALT bolts, 3 PS bolts, and the 3 bracket bolts?
Also after I get everything hooked back up, do I just pour the the fluid back in and work the wheels back and forth at idle? I read something on an old post about making sure the pulley is lined up. How do I go about this, should I measure how far the pulley sits from the bracket or is it just by site?
Sorry for all the questions but I couldn't find any info on this stuff.
Thanks...

Why do you need to remove the alternator or bracket?
Remove the accessory drive belt.
Remove the air inlet tube.
Remove the return hose from the reservoir.
Place a pan under the power steering pump and drain the pump.
Remove the power steering pump pulley.
Disconnect the power steering high-pressure line.
Remove the bolts and detach the pump from the bracket.
Disconnect the power steering oil cooler return hose and remove the pump.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
When connecting a fitting with a seal ring, a new ring must be installed.
Use the Seal Replacer to install a seal ring over a fitting.

Fill and leak check the power steering system.
You are pretty much correct about purging air from the system. Turn the wheels fully to each side, but do not hold it there for more than a few seconds. That should do it, in most cases.
When the pulley hub is flush with the end of the shaft, it is pressed on correctly.

Walleye Hunter, I got a pulley puller tool from Autozone. I pulled it, but when I went to put it back on the new pump, the install screw was boogered. So I'm going to fix it for them, (by lopping off the bottom threads)and return it. You pay $50 and they return the money. maybe call ahead to your local oreilly or AZ to make sure they have the one you need. My local AZ has a way better time frame - 90 days. Oreilly wanted to loan it for like 48 hours.
There's a lot of videos of guys doing the PS pump and they show you how to work the tool. Very easy. Good luck!
