I wait but we know that it's really not a big deal with the super duty glow plugs they use now. Pretty much a non issue in the winter too. I would be more wary of cold oil than the start up.
The last message that appears is the 4x2 mode screen and I start after that.
Gives the computer time to check things out prior to start.
Which reminds me, I've not seen the low oil pressure light in many months.
Must have been fixed by one of the recent firmware updates.
During the summer months so far..I hardley wait. Anyone else getting lazy also?

I always wait until the gauges have powered up and then settle down. Especially in cold weather. I want to make sure that the glow plugs have time to warm up. ALSO I want to make sure that the fuel pump has a chance of pressurizing the fuel system.
Then I let the engine run a short time to warm up the oil.

+1 on the gauges cycling.
I let idle for at least 30 seconds before rolling out to get the fluids moving. Interesting to note, the mornings are getting cooler here now that we're in to the fall months and my shifting is a bit rough for the first few miles of my commute - rougher than usual.
Some times I use the remote start as I am walking out to the truck. As soon as I hit it you can hear the pump running. After a couple seconds it cranks.
Ah winter, where my desire for a warm cab and a defrosted window outweighs my wallet and good MPG.
A few minutes of high idle will drink some fuel at cold temps.
Your only in Alabama....how cold can it possibly get...??
MN ....January -30F. I plug my truck in at work every night...and i have a timer on the plug in at home...to preheat for 4-6 hours. At work I carry an electric space heater, and plug that in as well....The cab is nice and toasty when I hop in...
if its over about 40 degrees outside I fire up the truck like I would a gas truck. if below that I sometimes let the light go off, if its way below that I wait until the light goes off. which is so darn fast I can't believe it. it does however make a difference especially if its in the teens or less, the truck will run pretty ruff for a few moments if you don't cook the curly q.

It's all relative. 39 degrees and rain is absolutely miserable to most of us southerners. If I lived up north I would do what you do, lots of folks seem to go to great lengths to avoid using a space heater in their truck overnight. I would in a heartbeat!

I've noticed when I remote start my rig it doesn't turn on the defroster. Some sort of fan is going thou I can hear that when I tested it by remote starting sitting in the truck.
I just got my truck 2 weeks ago so maybe there is something I'm missing.
The remote start will only put the climate control to what ever you left it as. It won't kick on the defrosters (mirrors/windows [if you have any coiled windows]) or heated seats. I wish there was a way around this.
Say, in the summer time, you want your AC to run. Leave that turned on when you shut the truck off and it will go back to that state when you remote start it.
Ok so I set it to 77 and it will heat the truck up to that temp eventually? I think I pushed the defrost front window and (if your legs need defrosting you've got more problems to start with) legs button, the one with the arrows on it pointing up middle and bottom and I think that stayed on.. I'll have to check again.. Thanks..
I get in the truck, and start it, dont wait for anything in the summer. Usually though, i have used the remote start.
As for the temperatures with remote start, I thought I read somewhere the truck auto decides to use the heat or A/C based on ambient temperature outside, and doesnt not look at what mode you left it in. I have not tested this though.
