Pending code PO354 01/01

Today I went after cylinders 1-5 on the Ex. Changed plugs and cops. Everything looked good until I completed cylinder 4 which I saved for last.

Got two codes. PO354 01/01 and PO304 02/02.

I know 354 is ignition coil D primary/ secondary circuit malfunction
I know PO304 02/02. Is cylinder 4 misfire detected.

I guess this could mean either my new cop is bad or i made a mistake in installing it.

I will go back in and change out this cop tomorrow. Any other thoughts?

Rookie Mistake

Looks like I made a rookie mistake. I did not plug in cop number 4 in my zeal to try it out. Ex runs better on 10cyl then 9. Tomorrow I will do the driver side before Clemson / FSU game. Hope I can stay focused.

Bet you didn't do this!

I finished up the rest of the plug and cop replacement Saturday...well at least almost. As I was torquing in the last bolt on the last cop on the last cylinder I managed to snap the bolt half way in.

Crap! There is about a quarter inch of bolt extending out. I think I will let a pro at the shop figure out how to get the cop bolt out of the aluminum head rather than try to drill it out myself. Hope this doesn't eat up the saving of doing the job myself.

If you have 1/4" sticking out then this may work for you.... may also come in handy when the exhaust manifold bolts go at some point.

Stud Extractor

Thanks for the idea. The bolt I broke was 5mm so that extractor in particular would not work.

I wound up having my local shop drill it out for $100! Ouch! I guess I am still ahead. Ten plugs and cops would have cost me $1,200 for the dealer to do it. Six hundred and change including my $100 mistake is still a bargain.

I'd get a left handed drill bit and try to drill it out.
