so my dash lights are out i figure that is probably one of my main problems besides the alternator testing bad(picked up a new one) go to check the bulbs and my instrument cluster basically crumbles in my hands
Just a side note, GFW's post that you quoted refers to a setup with an ammeter. I guess it's a moot point now, but you have (had) an ALT light. The wiring for this setup is different; in this case you want to check for power at the I terminal of the regulator with the key in RUN, and not the S terminal.
necro bump! i finally got a gauge cluster earlier this year. pup it in has a 100mph speedo instead of the factory setup. get it in and nothing still no charging. ends up being a wire going to the voltage regulator(in addition to the cluster problem) on one side of the fusible link. basically fell apart in my hand but looked solid before i touched it.
