I currently own a 2000 F-350 SD with a V-10. I want to upgrade to a used F-350 diesel SD, 4 dr, long box SRW 4X4.
I am not in the "new truck" tax bracket, so I am looking at used.
My concern is which engine to look for, and how to tell if it is a good one. I have heard lots of people talk about the various engines and that some are in th eshop more than others.
Any opinions on which diesel to look for (or stay away from) would be greatly appreciated
How much $ are you looking at spending? Not much difference in a 250/350 these days.
I'd be looking for a 2005-07 6.0 with low mileage. Be sure to make an OASIS report part of the buy. Before buying view the 6.0 diesel site here and look at what the pitfalls are. The 6.0 is a strong engine but it requires some care. If are are willing to do a lot of your own service, they can be a really good buy.
Thanks, I will look at the 6.o liter section.
I would like to stay between $20K and $25K.
Would it be better to look for a sub 100K mile 6.0 liter or a 100k + 6.4 liter.
There is a 2008 6.4 liter with 125K miles that I was going to look at for $22K
What do you think.
