FE 390 conversion to a 410
HI! After purchasing a 428 crank to swap into my FE 390, I got on the phone with the Ford performance to see what specs I needed to complete the conversion. They passed me on to their "FE" guy. After learning that I wanted to put the 410 in a truck, he told me it was a bad idea. He stated that "the stroke would be too long for a heavy vehicle. If I wanted more cubic inches, go to a 460 b/c the 460 was designed with a large bore and a short stroke so it could be used in heavy vehicles." Can anyone out their back the statement about stroke and heavy vehicles? I just cannot see why stroking my FE 390 from 3.78 to 3.98 inches for some extra torque would cause any problems. Thanks!
