Long bed, ie: 8 foot bed is only available with the Heavy Duty package. Which is usually a XL.
otherwise, it's a 5'5" or 6'5" bed only for the 04+ F-150
A heavy duty F-150 has a 10.25 rear axle (vice the 8.8 or 9.75 axles). It also has 7 lug rims. There are more upgrades, but those are the 2 biggest ones. The 7 lugs make it easy to spot...besides the long bed

Thats exactly what i thought. BUT i just found an '04 XLT with a longbed. its a supercab, 8ft bed, 4x4, power everything. i currently own a 2003 XL 7700 2wd with a 5.4L, so I know about the differences. Maybe it was a special ordered truck back in 2004?

One of the requirements to having the heavy duty payload package is having the 5.4L engine (I have the heavy duty package). I just went on car www.carsoup.com and found an 06 F150 8ft bed with the 4.6L engine. Which would make it not a heavy duty.

which body style are you talking about?
in 2004 Ford offered the 99-03 body, and they offered the 04-08 body. The 04+ body was generally at first hated and Ford was scared of losing sales.
Not all Heavy duties were XL's. the majority were. Most people have no desire for a 8' bed anymore, so dealerships didn't buy them because they sit on the lot for awhile

I know for a fact that Ford did not make a Heavy Duty F-150 from 2004+ that had a 4.6 2v motor in it. The listing is either wrong about bed length or motor size. Got a link to that truck? I'm finding 608 2006 trucks on that website

Ford made plenty of long bed F150s without the heavy duty payload package. They are around if you look for them. Here is just one of them. In the details they have the GVWR and the gear ratio listed. Gear ratio would be 4.10 if it was a heavy duty.
Once you get into the XLT or above package the truck has become more of a site supervisor type work truck or daily driver/work truck. Most of the 8' beds would of been ordered by dealers in the XL package as it was bare bones work horse. But they made others with an 8' bed if you ordered it that way except of course the supercrews which were 5.5 until late 05 only.
Here's my 07 XLT SCab longbed Heavy Half 4x2. 8200 GVW, 5.4L, auto, 4.10 rear and yes it has the 7 lug wheels. It has things like the towing package, HD electrical, big gas tank, etc. Here it is sitting by my 97 shorbed for comparison.
Far as I know you can still get them if you pick the right build options.
I love how cute your 97 looks next to your 07. I too have a 07 scab hd. Mine is xl though. Since I use it for work I really didn't want the cloth seats. Plenty of power to spare. I love it. Wait a sec are those alloys rims?
