I took mine out , and mounted my fuse block on the fire wall at that level. I dont like laying on My back in the dark testing fuses, LOL. Really, thru my life all Ive ever collected in glove boxs is junk anyway, and the glove door makes a good place to lay your flashlite while you change a fuse. Heah it works for Me.
I am making one out of sheet metal just to look good when the box is opened. Mine is shortened because I have an a/c unit behind it. Everybody knows that problem. It has sides, back and bottom and no top. I had to make the bottom and sides with one piece and fold them to get them in the hole from the front. Then I had to slide the back behind it and use screws to secure the back to the sides. When I get it painted and reinstalled I will post a picture. This is what you see now when you open the door. Not a pretty picture.
I finished my glove box and it turned out pretty good. Covered up all that stuff.
Are thee replacement liners supposed to come with an additional 'Z' shaped piece to cover the hinge bracket? My old liner was too wrecked to tell. Just seems un-finished looking through a 1/2" gap at the bottom.
I built one for my friend from 20 ga steel, just made a template from poster board. After drawing it onto the steel I rolled it over some pipe to match the original radius and tacked welded it all together. Finished it off by glueing black cushioned felt to the inside and poof, it was done and stuff doesn't rattle around either.

Thanks

Make sure it isn't in upside down! I had mine in u.d. for a year, and it had a gap like you're describing.
