My visor and the lighted vanity light just died. Took to the dealer, power going to visor, but everything inside visor is dead. We have extended Ford premium warranty, but of course, this part not covered. Dealer wants like $500 or more, crazy. Anybody know where one can be picked up? E-bay had a tan one, I need a charcoal color. Thank you
are you sure this isn't covered? the Premiumcare ESP is an extension of the bumper to bumper 3yr/36k warranty. you pay your deductible $ (if any) and they fix it.
I'd call the 1-800 Ford # in the front of your owners manual and get them to confirm it isn't covered. Stuff like seat leather, brakes, wipers...that isn't covered. A malfunctioning electrical component like the visor should be covered
I have the premium care as well. I was real surprised that this is not covered either. I have not called Ford yet, which I need to do. But my dealer is very good, he ran the visor part number, and nothing came up. I checked my literature, and no mention of the homelink visor anywhere that I can find. This is really crazy, because the dealer said the visor was $550 bucks or so, I can't find one anywhere on Google yet. Thanks for the reply's.
You should be able to get most any homelink visors on ebay and make it work. It only draws 12v, the brains are in the visor and doesn't communicate with the truck in any way. $500 is just crazy.
Good news. I called Ford customer service and the ESP People. After a couple of calls, talked to a Supervisor, and he got the part covered. It seems there is one part number that covers the sun visor, even if it had the homelink and the lighted vanity. That is why I had to track it down through Ford, to be specific with the bad electronics in the visor.
So Ford ordered the part, and I got it installed by the dealer today, I get to program it this evening. Life is good again, with the built in garage door opener!
