OK, I will try to describe this the best I can. When I am driving straight it drives fine, when I am stopped or going slow and turn hard left or right the truck feels like the brakes are on. If I go ahead and give it some gas it will go and then you hear a whining/growling sound until it straightens out then the sound goes away, I cannot pinpoint if the sound is from the front or rear it is hard to tell from inside the vehicle. I currently have the brown wire for the AWD cut to put a switch in so I am pretty sure it is not the AWD. I have installed new rotors and pads on the front. I appreciate any advise that you have, Thanks, Joe
If your vehicle has a limited slip diff in the rear, it may be the clutches are grabbing - maybe it needs some limited slip additive added to the rear diff?

I just changed the fluid in rear diff. and used 2 bottles of additive. I have actually changed all fluids in vehicle in the last month.
I was thinking the clutches also, but would like to know how to tell for sure?
The front clutch inside the transfer case could be physically locked up. It's not a common problem but it does happen. You can confirm this by removing the front driveshaft then taking a few turns. If the problem is gone, then the front clutch is the cause of it.

I sure hope that is not the cause of it, I just had the TC rebuilt!!!!
1. Was the rebuilder experienced or new at rebuilding?
2. Is there any chance he could've reassembled it incorrectly?
3. Did he do a full rebuild or just replace a few parts and some gaskets?

It was a transmission shop, it had broken shift fork he repaired, he was supposed to look at everything, but with my luck he probably didnt, gonna pull the front driveshaft after work.
Pulled the front drive shaft, tightness stopped. Now does that mean that the clutches are definately the problem in the Transfer Case? I could not turn the Front driveshaft with the Expy in neutral either. Does that mean that the Transfer case is in 4WD or is it just the clutches grabbing the output shaft?
IMO, since you cut the brown wire there is no power going to the front clutch. So even if the TC is in 4WD, the front clutch should not be engaged at all. To me it still sounds like there's an internal problem with the TC and it's front clutch.
