RABS Help

My brake lines have rusted out in my truck, its a 95 F250. I am currently replacing all the lines. The RABS has rusted out as well and I can't find a place that sells them. I have found online them listed for a 94 from A1 CarDone but I didn't see anything for a 95. It looks the same, I wanted to know if this unit will work. Also if does not work, does anyone have a source for a used or rebuilt RABS unit. I need to get this part ASAP and get my truck up and running again. Any body with some info. the help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the OBS Forum.

You have a couple options. The quickest (to get back on the road) is to just bypass the unit and replace it as time permits. Another option is to call Cardone's tech support line and ask if it fits (likely it will). many times catalog pages are not accurate. The third is to order it from your source and return it if it won't work...just check the fine print at your source for returns prior to purchase.

Thanks for the welcome. I just bought the truck about a month ago as well. In good shape overall, just had some frame rust as you can tell. Back to the topic, if I bypass the RADS will I only get the ABS light on the dash??? Is there any other ill effects other than not having ABS on the rear brakes. Also from the mater cylinder of the 2 lines that run out the passenger side which one goes to the rear and which one goes to the front??? Those lines had to be replaced as well and I forget now which ones went where. Thanks for your help again!!!!

if your talking about the valve assembly on the frame rail in front of the transmisson with the lines going to the master and rear end ford should be able to get them, not cheap though listed for $426 or so, you should be able to get cardone to cross refrence the part with the ford part number which is XL3Z2B373AARM

I'm subscribing to this one because I'm currently replacing all of the original brake lines in my truck. If you don't mind I'm going to go ahead and ask a question in this thread.

I'm using straight brake line and bending it myself. I noticed that both lines coming off of the master cylinder all have coils bent in them. It's not going to hurt anything if I just run them straight, will it? I figure the coils are just to give it a way to adjust the length of the line. Is that correct? I figure I won't need that and I don't want to risk kinking the line.

I think the coils are there to allow for any movement between the body and frame. The coils flex instead of putting stress on the fitting going into the MC

That makes sense. I guess I'll try to put a coil in it, then.

I was looking more towards just bypassing the RABS valve for now, for one to get the truck on the road and due to money being tight. If someone could help with the routing of the lines, which on on the master goes to the front and which one goes to the rear that would be much appreciated. THanks.

Or, you could save about $400.00 and go on line to Rock Auto and buy it for $95.00 after core return or $135.00 with no core return.

Look at the master, the front line is the front and the rear (closest to booster) is the rear line. The RABS only ties to the rear brake line if I recall correclty.

I personally would not bypass RABS if you absolutely did not have to.

Should be the same from 94 and up.

The RABS2 changeover was in 92 or 93 IIRC.
