I have an 06 F350 Crew cab PSTD. My brother just bought an 06 F350 Crew cab PSTD. My question is in re: mine as locking hubs and his doesn't. Did Ford sell both styles in the same year? I should also point out that mine is bone stock from what I can tell and he is sitting on 37 inch tires. I appreciate all responses.
Every Ford SuperDuty truck has locking hubs. The only difference would be manual vs automatic locking hubs. If the truck has Electronic Shift on the Fly (ESOF), meaning a switch on the dash, it came with automatic hub locks. If it has the manual floor shift, it came with manual locking hubs.
Auto hubs still have a lock dial. The dial will have two positions, lock and auto. In the auto position they are locked automatically using vacuum, in the lock position they are manually locked. Manual hubs are either locked or free.
The hub locks on your brothers truck may be hidden behind a wheel cap. Some aftermarket wheels had center caps that didn't allow access to the hubs.
I assumed that his were hidden behind the center cap. We both have the turn on the dash style. Mine also has the hubs you can turn from auto to locked and he has a center cap where his should be. Since every ford I've ever owned had turnable hubs I thought it was weird. I appreciate the input. I wasn't sure since he had a lift kit on his if someone had done aftermarket work on his or the center caps were covering them.
