I disagree. Mud terrains suck on ice and slick roads. Too much tire on the road

Most all tires suck on ice unless they have studs or chains

True, but my worn out wrangler rt/s were better in the winter than my brand new MTs

I'm curious to see how my duratracs do in the snow this winter. They have the mountain/snowflake symbol for winter weather, so should be interesting.

I've run lots of trucks with Wrangler MTRs through deep mud, deep snow and over packed snow/ice. They handled very well I thought for a mud tire.

Will do. So far I have been pleased in every way with these tires. In deep mud they dig great, on the road they are fairly quiet and ride smooth. For about the first 500 miles they threw rocks really bad, but after they wore in they stopped doing that. If they perform the way I expect them to this winter, I am definitely going to putting these on all my trucks.

Heres 235's on a 4 inch lift not the 6 I got later. I dont know the Imperial conversion of 235's into inches but correct if Im wrong 235's are a bit smaller than 31's.
do you have any pics of your truck with the 6 inch and the 235s?

Yup, axles with those gears and limited-slip diffs. If you're doing an axle swap you might as well make it a D60, good luck finding one for under a grand though. You could check out the 4x4 and Offroad section. Those guys could help shed some light on what you're asking us.

I suppose you could find a TTB front axle and a rear end to match it, which would be easier, and cheaper. But still hard, and expensive.

EDIT: Forgot your truck is a 4x2, sorry. You will only need the rear end, which wouldn't be that bad to swap out, and reasonable to find. I believe I read somewhere that lightnings were the only ones that came with 4.10's and limited slip for our trucks, otherwise you were stuck with either 3.08 or 3.55 I'm getting too tired now to look for the thread I read that in, but that should help you narrow your search quite a bit.

My truck has Moog CC844 (F250) coil springs up front, to level out the 2wd rake, and a 3 inch body lift sitting on 31's in my sig picture. It currently has 235/75/15 WinterForce tires on for the winter.

If you want to lift your truck, then lift it. Don't let the negative comments from people on this forum bring you down. It's your truck and do whatever you want to. I would suggest getting the 6 inch lift, as the 4 inch would probably just bring you close to a stock height 4x4, maybe a bit higher. My 3" lift makes my truck sit like a 4x4 now, but I still want just a little more height to it. Although the downside to a 6" is you need bigger tires to accommodate all of the extra wheel well space vs. the 4" lift which would be fine with 31's. All in all, it's up to you.

Good luck.
