Also would my truck be really top heavy with my small tires and a 6 inch lift.......i dont wanna take a turn and there goes my truck......thats the only thing im worried about
Don't lift that truck.. You have no idea what you are getting yourself into... Like said previously, if you want it to look taller get some leveling coils.

lift it if you want to. check out all those pre-runner trucks, they look sick! 6 inchs on a 150 is not that much at all, plus you can get gears from a 4.0L explorer when you up-size your tires. build a pre-runner style bumper for it and you would be styling. it wont be top heavy, or not as much as most people think.
He can't afford his own lift kit, what makes you think he can afford to regear and get a new bumper built for his truck?
I'm not going to tell him what he wants to hear just to make him happy. Lifting his truck is neither practical, nor smart. More than likely it has a 5.0/auto in it, which means that when he gets bigger tires he is going to HATE driving his truck. My 3.55's are barely bearable with my 4.9 and 5 speed running 33" tires. With 6" of lift he is going to want at least 35" tires to make it look right, and that is going to KILL his gas mileage, plus it will be as slow as a Hellen Keller on morphine.
I believe someone mentioned to get mud tires for the winter, I disagree. First snowfall with my 33's and my stopping distance was about a mile lol.
Heres 235's on a 4 inch lift not the 6 I got later. I dont know the Imperial conversion of 235's into inches but correct if Im wrong 235's are a bit smaller than 31's.

235 is the width of the tires in millimeters, 75 is the aspect ratio (height to width, the tire is 75% of the width, creating your sidewall height), and 15 is your rim size. 235/75r15's are 28.8" tall if your picky like me, other wise you can call them 29" tall.
