Also - I appreciate the honesty about the tuner and the maintenance practices. IMO this shows that Gold coolant can perform well enough if properly maintained! I still agree that Cat EC-1 is probably better, but you can't argue w/ 300k on the Gold stuff.
At how many miles did you first start having injector issues (approximately) and at what mileage was the turbo replaced?

You can also win at Russian roulette, but that doesn't mean you should try!
All I can say is that many people are using the Gold succesfully - for many miles and heavy service lives. It can clearly work for a 300k service life (and not necessarily an easy life either by previous posts), so there must be multiple factors involved in the gelling (and btw, the ELC can gel also). I am almost at 100k w/ the Gold and do not feel like it is Russian roulette. I believe in fluke failures, but not fluke successes!! As I said though, I plan to change (but not due to fear of "gunshot wounds" - lol!)
It is very good to hear that the 6.0 can go 300k with minor maintenance. I run synthetic in mine and change oil and filter every 3k miles. Yah, I lived on the corner of main and balm. It use to be an old white two story farm house. I think it is dark green or grey now. Small world. Thanks for the post of success with the 6.0.

Yes, I remember you now....thought so. I was racking my brain last night and remembered. : )

We have replaced the injectors in pairs. First two at 210K, second two at 226K, third two at 261K. Turbo was replaced at 92K. Doherty Ford here in Forest Grove put a rebuid that Fed Ex had approved by Ford to go back in their rigs with the 6.0L. That was the obvious choice there. : )

OP - sorry for the hijack .....
Our mechanic is faithful to the Ford coolant and filters. He says if it was designed for it, then it is meant for it. We have (6) 6.0L PSD here at Parker Concrete, all have the Ford "Gold" coolant in them and no problems. All of our 6.0L pull loads/materials continousely. My truck runs from 6:30AM (after doing paperwork at shop) until I'm done, job to job to job.......somedays are 500-600 miles. I think the coolant works well. : )
^Hub bearings, tie rods, drag link, not sure if I am naming the parts correctly, but all the linkage. Seems that we do this every 100K. The conditioner is a coolant conditioner. Go to your local Ford garage and ask for it. It is a booster of some sort that adds viscus to the coolant. I still have the original water pump. : )
