Test fuel pump wiring

Well i figure i should test the fuel pump wiring before going out and replacing the pump and tank. I say this as the last time i started the truck it worked fine. Now its a no go after 3 month of sitting outside on the grass thus why i suspect corrosion to be at play. Problem is i have no shop manual / wiring diagram book to look at. Any help would be grateful. This is on my 91 f250 plow truck, 2nd one down in my signature and one in my profile picture.

There are only a few wires going to the tank. I don't recall the colors, but I believe the fuel pump power wires are a little heavier gauge. Just have someone turn the key to run while back probing the wires for voltage. The eec only kicks on the pump for a few seconds so you should see 12+ volts for a few seconds and then 0 volts. You should be able to hear the pump for a few seconds.....other option would be to have someone continuously turning it over...to keep the voltage constant, while back probing.

I'll try that out. It looks like the tank sender has 4 wires. I did hear the pump whine before when it worked. Now nothing, my dad sad he heard clicking in the tank? Might have just been the relay or the resistance was too high in the wires due to corrosion to move the pump.

Bump the tank real good with your hand and try again. I have seen it work. Do you have dual tanks?

Single tank. I'll give that a shot.
