I have a 2005 F350 4x4 with 6L and automatic trans. When I try to pull my RV or stock trailer in soft ground or up a slight hill the truck will just sit and the engine will not rev up. I have to put it into low range in order to start moving. Even empty when I try to get out into traffic when I am starting up a hill the truck is very slow to move until the RPM gets up to about 1500 then it takes off like a rabbit. Is this normal for this unit or should I be looking at somthing? I have had it to several dealers and they say there is nothing wrong but I find that hard to believe.
Wrong forum for 6.0L questionm But to answer your question, It was the main reason I trade my 6.0L for a new truck. So yes, it is somewhat normal.
I frequently have to move trailers in and out of construction job sites. Which often means over the curb. If I slowly back up and try to push the trailer over the curb, I don't have the power, If I get up to RPM's then I hit and bounce off the curb, I always worry about bending rims etc. So I usually put it in 4Low and then cross the curb.
The 6.0L doesn't have a lot of grunt at very low rpms until the turbo gets spooled up.
