About to order carpet for my truck and have a question about which one. I would assume that the tranny tunnel that is flat is for anything but the c-6 and the one that has the extra hump is for one with a c-6? My truck is a 302 with a c-6 but is has the flat transmission tunnel. I do not think the engine and tranny are original to the truck? Or is it the standard with the floor shift to have the extra taller hump?
My truck was an original 3 speed with the 5 inch hump. I changed it over and it now has a C6 trans, a little tight. So if I was you I would go with the 5 inch hump.

You sure it's a C6? Ford did not offer the C6 w/a 302 engine until 1978.

I am 100% sure it is a c-6; it is not original to the truck. I found out through the vin it originally was a inline 6 but I do not know what tranny they came with in that config. So it seems that the truck was originally a three on the tree with a 6? Would that have the flat tranny tunnel? Or did they come with a inline 6 mated to a c-6 back then?
Sorry for all the confusion, just trying to figure out which combos came with which tranny tunnel.
you know?.... those premolded carpet kits only have jute material where your feet go. so the rest of the cab will not be insulated. plus they are upwards of 225 bucks.
i found a place called stock interiors down in nc that sent me a package in the mail with all kinds of samples, ranging from cut pile, loop, regular, and extra plush. if you buy carpeting by the yard, it has a special backing. so if you use a heat gun you can shape it.
i have not yet gotten it, but when i do i am going to line the entire thing with jute rug, and then install the carpet myself. and to top it all off i already have the whole thing lined with dynamat. the kit on ebay wasnt too bad, and i still have enough for the door panels.
food for thought. good luck.
I bought a reproduction molded "looped" carpet from Macs Antique Auto Parts for $158, and that included freight shipping. My truck still had the factory installed carpet in it and was never out of the truck. The factory carpet had backing all over it. The repo carpet has backing only on the feet and hump areas. When i took the carpet out, it had a "sound deadner" under the carpet which I guess had to have been factory installed. Here are some photos:
This is what my repo carpet looks like:
If you want, I will take a pic of the entire floor board without the mat so you can see how it fits across the hump. looking at the receipt. it says "center hump is approx 4 inches high" It fits pretty tight.
Numberdummy, the only problem with those guys is their upholstery does not come already sewd together, you only get the material and you have to get them sewd together at an upholstery shop. it is not something you can do yourself unless you know how to sew the materials yourself.
