I just replaced instrument cluster light bulbs. During the process I broke several plastic tabs and screw holes from the 3 pieces of dashboard. Not because I was careless. The plastic has cracked by itself. For instance, the trim piece that goes around the radio is loose now. I went to a JY but no luck. I think my dashboard pieces have about half fasteners broken off.
Those of you who have old trucks,
What do you do? Velcro? Duct tape? Silicone glue?
If I go to a JY, what years can I take parts from? All the way up to 03?
Epoxy putty (NOT epoxy glue) is excellent for fixing all kinds of plastic parts. Wally World sells it, usually in the plumbing or home hardware department. It sets up into a hard plastic that can be drilled or machined. Since it's a putty to start with, it will hold its position without dripping all over.
If I was trying to replace a chunk of plastic from one year's model by another, I would take the old part to the JY with me.
