Ahh... thanks for the explanation. So I get to choose between TV rod hell or throttle shaft bore risk. Guess I'll take the bore risk.

Good Lord they're high.
I'm finding some "Autoline" (not AutoLITE) rebuilds at Advance and Rock Auto for half the price. There's so many though.

You want the one that works with an OVERDRIVE transmission. These are available from 1981 - 1982. I am not sure what is different about the 1983, but these are listed as working for only that year.
And a Holley or Edelbrock will cost you a lot more than that, Chief.

Ok - 81-82 w/AOD
I started off looking at these before the whole TV rod discussion:
Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS Carburetors - JEGS
Rock Auto lists 7. This is the only one that sys w/OD. I think they all show the same pic though.
