I saw some where that there was a update to the PCM that updated some of the issues including the 15* delta between EOT/ECT and will turn the CEL on if it went that high and other items. I have talked with FMC service and they can't remember anything about it. I told him that if I could find it and show it to him then he would check it out, but right now I can't find it again. Was this under a TSB and if so what TSB was it for a 04 F350 SD
That is correct. The most current calibration for these trucks will now monitor FICM voltages, turbo boost and ECT/EOT correlation. If any of the three fall outside of acceptable parameters, the PCM will de-rate power output, throw the yellow "wrench" light on and set the appropriate DTCs. However, this calibration applies only to '05 to '07 models. '03 and '04 trucks are excluded from this strategy update which is likely why your local dealer was unable to locate the TSB, using the info from your truck in particular.
Thanks, what is the most current version for the 04 F350 SD 4x4 for the PCM and was there any updates since they created the 04, if there was a update, how can I tell I have the updated version?
You would need to bring it to your local dealer to have IDS connected, to see if a later calibration update is available for your truck. If it is, a prompt on the scan tool will appear, to indicate the latest calibration strategy available. If it is already at the latest level, a prompt will also appear, to indicate NO LATER CALIBRATION AVAILABLE. A charge will likely be imposed for such a service.
