I just had my truck in for warrenty service and they reflashed my computer. Now my trucks performance is terrible. Is this normal or did I get a bad flash. Is there anyway of reprograming with an older flash?
no--there isn't any way to go back to the old flash--at least at this point. What is your production date--or do you know if you have an 03 or an 04 motor. The split date is 09-30-03 for 04 trucks.

Maybe the flash didn't load properly. Take it back to your dealer and discuss it with the service manager.
Had the latest flash, lost power, got the dead peddle bit and now only 2 down shifts in tow and haul mode, lost fuel miliage, truck is totally different now, taking it back to see what they can do to get it back to normal.
50jd60 - give us your engine build date and then we will know if you have an individualized problem or the same problem everyone else has that got the Dec flash on the 03 and early 04 engine. More as soon as you respond.
My truck is an 04 with an 08/03 build date, it had an updated flash when I bought it new in March. I think that the fuel milage may be the same (don't know yet still on my first tank of fuel). I havn't tried the tow mode. All I can say is that before the flash my truck had a lot more accelleration than it does now. Now when I step on it feels like I am driving a 4 cylinder escort not a 6.0 PSD. Very disapointing.
Zuke - If yours is like mine was it will really hurt your mileage as well as performance. You can regain both and then some with a Predator or Superchips programmer.
50jd60 - What you experienced with the flash is consistent with what a lot of the rest of us experienced - loss of performance and mileage. That was my only complaint with my Aug 03 build date 04. My dealer is a great guy and traded me up to an 05 at a fair price. I am very happy with the 05 so don't take an 04 if they do a buy back. Drive an 05 and you'll see what I mean.
Tim - it is hard to say since the one I traded was broken in and the new one only has 1200 miles on it. The 05 pulls good and is very smooth but I don't think it makes quite the power of the 03 strategy - nothing quantifiable - just seat of the pants evaluation. "Close" but not quite stock would probably be accurate. The 05 overall is a better truck and handles like a dream compared to the 04. Kurt
Tim - you know I am real pickey about my vehicles and I do have a good comparison between this and my 04/03 strategy engine since I now have owned both. There is no question that my 04 ran better and got better mileage before the Oct and Dec flashes. The Oct flash didn't seem to hurt power but it did hurt mileage a little. The Dec flash was the killer in that it really hurt both performance and mileage. I suspect the 05 will get better with some miles on it. Even that it might not be quite as powerful out of the box I wouldn't consider an 03/04 if I were a first time buyer because of all the changes to the engine and chassis - Kurt
