Sorry if this was already posted - I checked, but I didn't see it anywhere. We already knew it was coming, but the last Crown Vic finally rolled off the line this past Thursday. It will be missed!
It's a sad day, another American ICON gone with the CHANGING TIMES !!

It's a shame to see the CV go out like this. I really with they'd have dropped the 3 valve 4.6 from the Mustang in it. 300~ horsepower and the torque it makes could have done wonders for the CV and it wouldn't have taken a lot to do it. I just got a new one and it's a great car.
The dealership where we buy our cars had over 500 in stock in July and they're down to just over 100 now. They're trying to get all they can right now because departments everywhere are grabbing them up quick.

Tweak the suspension, add the new 5.0 from the Mustang...........The CV would be a terror on fleeing perps in ANY car!
Sure would. And I'll tell 'ya, the suspension on the CVPI is pretty darn good as it is. They could definitely stand better brakes though. My new one is an unmarked white CVPI. It doesn't get noticed as much as I thought it would either. I can stealth around pretty well in it.

One local dept. used to have unmarked Merc Grand Marquis..............Joke was on the tweakers and low-lifes that thought it was just "Grandpa's car" rolling up behind them!
It'll be interesting to see if the Taurus gains any traction in the LE community as Ford fights hard for spots that are occupied by CV loyalists and Chevies. The CV's have proven that they can last for decades under hard use but the LE folks that buy them aren't going to spend the money that the cab companies spend to keep them rolling.
I think the CV would totally come alive with a 3.5L and a 6 speed trans.
2 huge money makers for Ford, I bet they return updated and ready to roll in a couple years.
It's already out and updated. It's called a Taurus.
Ford brought the Taurus out in 2005 as the Five Hundred. It was told to us insiders that this car was replacing both the Taurus and Crown Vic. Then the fleets started buying more Crown Vics so Ford kept it around for several more years. But now it's gone for good. It is always possible the name will return, but that chassis will never be back.
