Pulled out old trans and cut crossmenber. Looks like it will all fit nice with the speedway adapter kit. Pressure plate counter weights hit adapter but I hear Clutchmasters and Speedway have a pressure plate that will work. Anybody need a 4 speed spur gear trans send me a PM.
Anybody need a 4 speed spur gear trans send me a PM.
have half a dozen of them so No...
pull the half bell (hogshead) off and sell it. then keep the trans for a core charge if you ever get a trans from a pick and pull, it's worth at least $30 there??
keep us posted on progress, and yes pictures are required, showing your componants, and install.
Ill post more later when crossmember is done. As for shifter I'm gonna cut the T5 shifter and weld on the shaft from old trans to make it look origional. Everything fit good with the speedway adapter but I had to drill out a couple holes to line up with bell housing. Input shaft bearing was wrong but speedway set out the right one overnight. I think everything will be cool when I find the right pressure plate. Speedway didnt have an 11" one only 10.5" with the wrong bolt pattern. They say cut off the counter weights but I will only do that as a last resort. Clutch masters has had thier computers down sisce thursday so they cant find the right part. I'll call them again monday.
Do you have any insite as was to get a pressure plate for the 11" bolt pattern on the flywheel?
Not sure what you are asking? If the counterweights of your 11" pp hit, you may have to use a smaller diameter pp..... is what I was trying to say.....I doubt if they make an 11" clutch disc to fit the t5 splines anyway?
Thanks for the pics, good idea bolting in the x member. Are you happy with the speedway adaptor? Does it come with the required sleeves for the t/o bearing and pilot bearing?
I'm happy with the speedway stuff and all the required sleves and bearings come with the kit. The one I bought was $289 shipped to me.
I dont know if I can get a smaller PP drilled the same size as the 11". Flywheel only has one set of holes. One of the flathead experts at Speedway told me to cut off the counter weights because they arent needed if I dont go over 5000 rpm. Anybody got an opinion on cutting off the counter weights? I'm gonna call clutch master tomorrow and see what they say.
Personally, I would not modify the pp.....it's too easy to throw it out of balance. To use a smaller PP, you will have to get a different flywheel with a smaller bolt pattern or have yours redrilled by a machine shop.
Do you have the new clutch disc to fit the t5? What diameter is it?
Called Clutch masters in Iowa today. Jim was very helpful on the phone. He did some checking and found a direct replacement Diaphram Pressure plate that will fit my 11" Flywheel bolt pattern and an 11" disc with the correct spline to match the T5. $200 bucks for both. Should be deliverd Thursday or Friday. I picked up an S10 driveshaft with a yoke from junkyard for $20 bucks and had it cut and the correct u joints added to the rear for $142.71. Not bad IMO. More Updates when they happen.
Pressure plate didnt fit. I gotta call them and see if I can return it. Had to cut weights off old pressure plate to make it work. I gotta say it shifts like a new vehicle. Gas mileage still remains to be seen.
