timing covers are cheap. one from a 90 302 would also work just so you know. they are the same.

bummer about the water pump deal. they may let you exchange it.

Oh man I really dont want to go through all the time to pull that cover. Easy when its out of the pickup lol. So lets say we keep what we have. Do I just change the pullys, ps pump and the alt? So that we can run v belt?

So if we stay with the pump we have can we just change the pullys and the ps pump and alt and be good to go?

if you change everything back to v belts then yes you can keep what you have.

Ok I was just trying to figure out the cheapest way right now. We have the v belt pullys and alt. Just not sure about the darn PS pump though. It has the serp pully on it so I need to find one of them I guess. But this for sure sounds like our problem. I did find our water pump off the engine (this old one) that was for our mustang and it turns ccw. But the problem is that the hose ports are all in the wrong places. I would have a pump if they were right!

you might consider doing a saginaw power steering pump swap. go to the wreckking yard and pull the power steering pump, bracket and hoses from a van running the V belt setup. its a better steering pump then what the trucks run. cost wise its probably close to what a pulley would run ya new.

just find an early 80s ford van at the wrecking yard.

honestly with all this effort you looking at the same to swap that front cover and run a reverse rotation water pump haha.

just pull the radiator and you will have plenty of room to work. I just did a new motor in my bronco last year so i know your pain.

Ok so I have looked at this and talked with the hubby. Here are our issues. You mentions changing the timing cover. Well the one that is on it has our dipstick in it and the old one does not. I cant find a v belt pully for the ps pump. And the hubby says that there is no adjusting in that pump. It is mounted solid, so we need the serp belt. So we are going to check the new pump we have by calling in the part number to the parts house and seeing if it is a ccw or cw rotation. If it is not then I found a water pump in summit that is a reverse rotation. We just have to see if it will match our holes or not. If this pump we have on here is a ccw then Im gonna ask......WTF is our deal now? Is it just new and need to be drove or what? been at this all day and just when I think we are getting somewhere there is a little part that comes up and stops it lol.

so the motor you got (351w) was from a car wasnt it? if it had been a truck motor the dipstick would be thru the oil pan like the original 90 motor. sorry you guys are going thru all of this trouble. i wish you had come here first and we could have made sure you guys where getting the right parts the first time.

if you get a 90 oil pan, this will take care of the dipstick issue. then get a 90 front timing cover then you can run a serp pump.

It dont go through the oil pan, the 90 was in the side of the block. We have the 90 oil pan on it. We did change the timing cover and the pump and it is working right now! Thanks for your help with that. As far as the dipstick, well we are gonna figure something out for that. That isnt gonna be a problem. Thanks again!!!!!
