just need some ideas...

My dad and I have been looking at crew cabs and we found a 92 cc srw 4x4 F350 with a 5spd and a 7.3idi... And it's dirt cheap (rust free and strait too!)...

We want to do a bit of towing obviously and diesels are new to me but I know they get good mpgs and are reliable as all get out...

So on to the questions... What would cause a miss or skip in the engine? Cavatation? bad injector? Just need to know what to look for...

Second what are some common power additions you guy put on (besides a turbo) and how much HP will these mods add? I saw stock lb ft of tq was like 360lb/ft... I was hoping to see 400 lb/ft or 425...

a miss could be a bad injector or tired injector pump. or it could be more serious internal engine damage. how many miles on it?
best bang for the buck for added power will be a turbo.

well... umm... 225K on the odometer but the speed sensor has been bad since the current owner bought it 3 years ago... So the previous owner to him could have had it out for 5k or 150k... We don't know... He says the engine will run but the rear axle is tore up (I have a spare HD full float 10.25 on Zues that I could rob for the project). I'd just need to swap from 3.55's to 4.10's to match the d60 front axle. Which btw... the owner said he heard somewhere that the 4.10s in his 10.25 axle wouldn't fit in the 10.25 axle I have since I have 3.55s from factory? True or not????

Anyway, he wants $2000 for it... Haven't seen the inside or outside yet. I hope to go see it over the weekend with my dad and post pics for you all to see.

Looks like new banks turbos systems are $2700ish new online... Is the Banks turbo setup the best bang for the buck? Are they easy to install? or at least come with good step by step directions? Has anyone done a install thread I could read to get the jist of a turbo install.

Thanks for all the he guys... It's hard finding what you need on a tight budget.

Hey guys,
i've been reading that thread about the banks turbo install... I was just wondering if the $2600 banks sidewinder kit #21064 comes with the exhaust??? forgive my ignorance but it looks like there is a dyna flow muffler and a tail pipe in the picture online... Just wondering...

The truck we are looking at will probably get a banks (or other brand) turbo if we buy it, and it has 6in stacks on it right now... My mom and dad aren't crazy about having stacks out the bed...

Also incase I am right about the exhaust coming with it... do you have to order a specific kit for a CCLB for the extra pipe????

you can but good banks systems all day long for $1000.
and you don't want any exhaust on it if you can get away with it.

i put a flowmaster delta 50 series on my 88 after i moved it here from the body shop so i don't wake the whole neighborhood up.
