My 97 F-350,crewcab 4x4 with the psd and 291,000 km's is in getting all 8 new alliant injectors put in. The # 6 injector failed this month, just did # 3 last july. I told myself back then if another one goes I would bite the bullet and do all 8 the next time. While its at the shop I got a call saying the impeller wheel of the turbo has damage from dust etc and that I should replace the whole turbo as it looks worn throught. I know what bad turbo impellers look like and I know from seeing the air filter this truck came with when I bought it how the dust got in. Anyway my truck is getting a rebuilt turbo put on while they do the injectors. I belive the turbo is original. Am I safe in thinking that I am good to go for a long while now with a new turbo and injectors? The previous owner was not as good with his maitenence as he claimed but I am the king of keeping things in good working order. Thats why I am doing all this work now, I want this truck for a long time. Can I expect to see better power now with new injectors and turbo? This truck had what I thought was great power before with a turbo and injectors that were not quite up to snuff. Thanks for any feedback.
Sounds like all of the critical stuff is addressed.
After running a Banks kit for 2 years I wonder what the cost difference would be between rebuilt factory turbo and Banks housing/impeller upgrade. Whole lot of power, but you need the bigger downpipe to take advantage of the increased flow - maybe taking this off-point from your question a bit.
