my moms airbag light in her 04 escape is on. she hasnt hit anything and she has no idea why its on or what it means. is this a sensor going bad or what?
When you turn the key to the on position all of the dash lights are on for a few seconds and go out. Does the air bag light flash or stay on. If it flashes it indicates (by the number of flashes) what the basic code is.
From what I can see in the shop manual if it is on steady it may indicate the system has totally failed or there is no communication with the RCM.
I have a 2004 Ford Escape that will beep 5 times in four sets, then goes quiet for a while, then starts up again. From previous forums I have read, this is a problem with the airbag warning light. No warning lights are showing up, but some of my instrument panel lights do not come on when I turn on my lights at night. Where exactly are these light bulbs located, and how hard are they to get to and replace? I would rather fix this myself instead of spending 200 bucks for a trip to the dealer just to swap out a light bulb. I will also check the electrical connections under the seats, but wanted to get a heads up on the instrument panel lights first. I do not get any backlights on the instrument panel show up on the bottom half of the panel, so I can't even read what some of the things indicate. I just got this vehicle used about a week ago, and I am trying to resolve the minor issues we had with it. I finally got the ignition coil misfire problem remedied, for now. Thanks for any help.
look under the seat. driver and passanger theres a little harness the size of a zippo lighter. Squeeze it together, 90% chance it turns off ur light. I cut mine and spliced them together, bypassing the crappy harness's. keep us posted with the outcome.
Sometimes it helps to slide the seat forward to access it
