Maybe I dont know enough about the technicalities of it...

Let me reword it "How many nuclear reactors are there in the U.S."

That is how the document I am reading is worded and it has an exact number. Maybe thats better?

Plants (sites) or reactors? TOO many in my opinion. Over 60 'known' sites but way more reactors. Don't think most people will really know the total. Military and DOE have a few here and they will not be counted and maybe a few we will never know about.
Tough question.

Hard to hide,,, really. How big do you think a reactor is in the sub? Reactors can be any size and could be buried under your feet and you would never know it. We think of reactors as those great big plants with a cloud of gas about it. Don't have to be big to put out an incredible amount of power and be very very dangerous. Course, I'm sure you're talking about the normal nuclear reactors most people are familiar with.
Maybe when everybody has made their guess you could direct us to the document you're talking about. Would be an interesting read.

That "cloud of gas" is steam.

They won't be "buried under your feet", either.

Yea Pop, I know its steam and as for it being 'under your feet',,, it was just an analogy. Means nothing as being actually under your feet. If it was under yor feet, it would most likely come with an electic fence around the place, because it sure as heck wouldn't be a public facility
