ECT vs Temp sending unit

If the hose barb has broken off in the fitting, it is going to be difficult. You won't have heat but you can block the hose and seal the hole in the fitting if you can get a plug to thread into it. However, if you can get that done, you can replace the hose barb and fix it permanently. I'll caution against sealers used in such close proximity to the ECT sensor as if they coat the sensor the sensor may fail. And a failed ECT sensor will wreak all sorts of havoc on the system... everything from hard starts to severely reduced fuel economy.

Basic Ford part # for fitting is 18599 or 18A568(probally this one),I would get them(Ford) to order a new one BUT it can be found at a "you service salvage yard", looks the same as one on my 95 5.8 Bronco. Temp repair!! Remove the fitting (after removing ect aka engine cooling temperture sensor). The ECT will screw into threaded hole that coolant tree just came out of, block off coolant line temporarly untill you get a replacement coolant tree fitting. Water hose only goes to throttle body to heat it up(deice)which after thinking about it cooler air makes more horsepower so unless you live where it stays very cold you may just try leaving it off!!! Good Luck Blue
