I re-test drove yesterday. Reverse is fine, wouldn't shift into 1st to go forward. Then wanted to slip out. I made it down the driveway and parked it. Milage is 150, 000+, good fuild level and no leaks.
From what i read I'm guessing its the Diode. It probably need the sprage gear conversion. Does the diode apply to first gear problems as well as the 2-3 gear issues i've read.
No, it still wont roll forward, RPM's go up. I'' gently rev the motor a couple of times then the transmission will engage into 1st. Then it seems like it slips out of gear then. I barely made it 50 feet to park the truck.
How do you know if the torque converter has gone bad ( wont engage) vs. the transmission gears not engaging?
If it is the torque converter it won't move in reverse, either. Your forward clutch is probably bad. There is nothing electronic that can do this, it has a mechanical failure.
That what i needed to know. After getting the trans done, should the TC be replaced as well. Is it recommended that these two componets get replace together, just to be safe?
