The battery is held in place in the tray with a clamp (AOA-10718-B) that fits around the top of the battery, has two holes in it for threaded J bolts.
The bolts hook to holes in the tray, then nuts/washers retain the whole tamale. Autoparts stores sell a universal clamp and J bolts.

Just curious,
It would seem that this part would be substantial enough to merit at least a parts number at one time, even though it is now obsolete.
I notice the NPD catalog shows a part similar to that described, on p 148, F-10718-3 that fits 70 amp hour, Group 29 batteries:
Since this is a 4 x 4 the part may be different, though!

Same-o same-o.

F-10718-3 is the same as Ford part number: AOA-10718-B = Obsolete as the dodo bird.
There are 65 of these clamps available NOS from Ford Dealers/obsolete parts vendors.

thanks guys for the information guys. looks like i might as well call and check price on nos. i also need new cables since the p.o. switched black for red and cut them up as well.
numberdummy would you happen to know the part number on the cables also and would you be kind enough to check your parts listinng as to who might have some nos? i realize i can get cables made up at the local parts store but thought i might as well check availability/price on nos.
thanks again

You can buy battery cables at any parts store. Originally, the positive cable was red, the negative cable was black.
Ford later replaced the red & black cables with blue cables.
I'm gonna have to search for the original part numbers, since Ford replaced them circa 1967.
Will post the info as soon as I find it.
