The original tartop batteries have been reproduced, there are several different styles.
ALL have red lettering, some are marked: AUTOLITE Sta-Ful / Some are marked AUTOLITE / Some are marked POWER PUNCH
Make sure the battery you buy, has the terminals in the correct location. The terminals are reversed on GM/Chrysler vehicles.
GM/Chrysler vehicles have a G code within the part number.
btw: There were no MOTORCRAFT batteries factory installed in any of these trucks, because...
There was no such thing as MOTORCRAFT prior to 1973.
Ford was forced by the US Gov't to sell Auto-Lite in 1972, because the Gov't claimed Ford had a monopoly on auto parts.
When Ford sold Auto-Lite in 1972, they then started in-house brand MOTORCRAFT, transfering all the former Auto-Lite part numbers over to MOTORCRAFT part numbers.
I don't know if you have seen them or not but Macs has reproductions. they are a little pricey but what else is new... just do a search for "script batteries" at macsautoparts.com.
