I went over the speed hump near my house and my truck died. It wont even crank and I dont hear the fuel pump spin when the ignition is turned on. There is still power to the cab as in radio, lights, etc. But no fuel pump and no crank. This happened a couple years ago and I found a blown fuse and later a green wire that the insulation was sliced off of right behind the fuse panel. I havent found a blown fuse yet but didnt work through all yet as I had to get to work. I have had an injector start having a bit of stiction when cold and thought it was the problem but when it wouldnt even crank over I realized it must be elsewhere. Any ideas?
Check to see if that bump kicked off the emergency fuel shut-off switch. It's behind the right (passenger) side kick cover to the right of the glove box.
Upon further investigation I have a blown fuse. I think it was number 21 engine control. This is the exact same thing that happened about a year and a half ago. It died, had it towed to the dealer because the fuse kept popping and they gave it back saying they found a bad wire behind the fuse box. I got it back heaed for Tennesee, which is cross country for me, and it died on me outside memphis. I moved wires around and repaced the fuse and it fired up and did that seversl more times on the way to my destination. When I got there I pull the fuse box and found the wire they had repaired, a green wire going into a white box, but behind their repair the wire had been striped of its insulation. I taped it up and until now havent had any further problems. I checked the tape and its still there but I am wondering of there is a know issue with the wiring on the 6.0. I knew there was for the 7.3 but hadn't heard much on 6.0's.
Moved the wires with fuseable links off the batt on the passengers side and down to Im assuming to the starter. now the truck will power up the fuel pump with out popping the fuse but still will no crank.
Before I unplugged the fan it wouldnt crank. I would turn the key to on position and as soon as I turned to start it wouldnt do anything, starter wouldnt turn, nothing. After I unplugged the fan started right up like nothing was wrong.
